consultation
I offer a free 45 minute consultation session. During this appointment, we will learn more about one another, to determine if working together would be a good fit. I will provide information related to what working together would look like. I hope to answer your questions during this time, and, if you decide you would like to build a working relationship, we will address possible goals for treatment, as well as estimated length of treatment.
ASSESSMENT
During your assessment, I will gather a great deal of information about your history and current symptoms. We will create a treatment plan, which I consider a living document, meaning, it can change, based on your needs, at any time. By the end of your assessment, we will have a solid handle on your treatment goals, as well as how we'll achievethose goals.
Individual therapy
Individual sessions are scheduled on the hour and run for 50 minutes. During your consultation, we will address the frequency of services, although it is helpful to know that therapy is most effective when occurring regularly. With that in mind, I typically recommend weekly, or biweekly sessions. For many, as therapy comes to a close, individuals often choose to engage in "booster" type sessions, occurring less frequently, such as once per month, to facilitate a smooth transition out of services.
Family therapy
Family sessions can be beneficial in helping clients share insight and skills learned with their family members. Many clients find it useful to engage their family members in the therapeutic process in order to allow for greater change to occur. However, this is optional and based on client needs, and may or may not be recommended as part of a treatment plan.
